Our History

What makes us amazing

Our Morristown-based running club currently has more than 200 members that reside mostly in the Morris, Somerset and Union County. We are a very diverse group abilitywise, agewise and genderwise. Some members went from the couch to their first 5K after joining our club. Others are running experts having run dozens and in some cases more than 100 marathons. We have some ultrarunning folks as well as some who have done full and half Ironmans. We are non-competitive when running as a group and there is no pressure to "keep up with the pack.” Everyone is welcome and no one runs or walks alone. On any given day, if you want to walk a mile or 2, 5, 10 or even 20 miles, there will be someone doing the same and will be available for you to run with.

    Jeremy Gulish - President

    Jeremy is responsible for the overall direction and operation of the club. As president, he believes running and being part of a caring community can transform lives. He faithfully believes life is an adventure and loves bringing along others on the journey.

    Donah Simmons - Vice President

    Small package, BIG energy, Donah works hand in hand with Jeremy to develop the culture and community at AFRC. She believes running is more than just fitness, it is about friendship and belonging. Her goal is to ensure everyone - regardless of pace feels welcome and supported on every run and walk.

    Mike Falcone - Treasurer

    The money man, Mike, is in charge of the club finances. Beyond being a dedicated runner he also is blessed with the task of chasing down our members for their modest annual dues.

    Nic Baxter - Secretary

    When it comes to running, few are as dedicated as Nic. In addition to being our club secretary, she owns her own running coaching business and is Training Program Director for Fleet Feet Northern New Jersey

    Harry Davis - Member at Large

    Harry is the nicest runner you’ll ever meet. He’s always making friends at our weekly runs be it in Westfield, Peapack, Morristown or Bedminster. Harry is an asset to the AFRC Executive Committee.

    James Sutterby - Member at Large

    Member at large, husband, dad and marathon hunter, James is well on his way to completely marathons in all 50 states. Always on the move, whenever he has a free minute he’s out running.

    Gene Napolitano - Director of Communications

    Club VIP Gene is the glue the binds us together. He seemlessly delivers race results (often before the race directors) all the while handling our extensive club comunications. We couldn’t do it without Gene.

    Kamal Patel - Co-Election Director

    Kamal oversees our elections every two years. If he isn’t counting ballots or running, he’s likely hanging backstage with Harry Styles or Lizzo at an I Heart Radio event.

    Nelson Lee - Co-Election Director

    Nelson also heads our election committee. If not traveling for his entrepeurial pursuits, he’s often giving back to the community at events like the annual Read & Feed Turkey Trot.
